SAUDI ARABIAN EDUCATIONAL MARKETING TOUR – 2009
EXHIBITION SUCCESS
The 13th MEETES’08 concluded with great compliments by both exhibitors and visitors. This four day educational show featured over 150 national and international participants and catered to more than 8,700 delighted visitors in Jeddah. Over 90% of exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the number of visitors. Over 85% of visitors indicated having achieved the purpose of their visit. Most of the exhibitors expressed interest in returning for MEETES’09.
IETEX 2008 showcased another great educational show in Dammam, the city where there is a huge potential of international education in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. More than 38,000 students graduate each year from high school in the Province. More than half of the graduates (19,000) continue their education outside Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Ministry of Education sends thousands of Saudi students to continue their education abroad.
SETEX, the first year of this educational show in Riyadh, catered over to 50 exhibitors from this city where the amount of investment in the national education sector exceeded 2 billion Saudi Riyals. Riyadh, the nation’s capital and largest city, is home to over 4.2 million people.

OVERVIEW
The Canadian Education Network in partnership with the Al-Harithy Exhibitions Company and the Dhahran International Exhibitions Co. present The 2009 Saudi Arabian Educational Marketing Tour. The 2009 tour includes the Middle East Education & Training Exhibition & Symposium (MEETES) to be held in Jeddah, as well as the 4th Saudi International Education & Training Exhibition to be held in Dammam. The Canadian Education Network also anticipates information to become available soon regarding a possible second leg of MEETES to be held in Riyadh. Fortunately, the most popular leg of the MEETES exhibition (in Jeddah) has already been confirmed and represents a very effective marketing opportunity for Canadian Educational Institutions in Western Saudi Arabia. IETEX 2009 rounds out the tour, by offering educational institutions the opportunity to create a presence in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. In total, the two confirmed exhibition locations offer schools the opportunity to present their programs in two of the most major regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
MARKET ANALYSIS: Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia represents the most dynamic market in the Gulf Region. Based on population size and general affluence in the country, Saudi Arabia has emerged as a key educational market. In addition to this, the Saudi Arabian government has recently increased educational funding dramatically. Of particular interest to educational institutions is the MOHE scholarship program, which provides complete financial support to a student choosing to study abroad. This support includes living expenses, English language preparation fees, tuition and other fees. In order for students to take advantage of this program they need only present an acceptance letter to the government, whether it be a full or conditional acceptance, issued by a post secondary institution. On another note, over the past few years, we have also witnessed a distinct increase in the approval of study permits for Saudi Arabian students.
CEN is devoted to its work in Saudi Arabia, and believes strongly in the potential of the market. With over 15 years of experience working in the Gulf region, CEN has integrated itself into the country, by developing strong ties through sponsorship, partnership and networking. CEN has emerged as an authority in the Gulf and especially in Saudi Arabia, and is committed to providing support and assistance to Canadian institutions looking to pursue marketing initiatives in the country.
We are currently focused on providing Canadian Educational Institutions with a comprehensive educational marketing initiative in the form of The 2009 Saudi Arabian Marketing Tour.
